MP Launches His Twelfth Christmas Card Competition

4.03.05pm BST (GMT +0100) Wed 8th Oct 2008

Tom Brake, Liberal Democrat MP for Carshalton and Wallington has launched his twelfth Christmas card competition for primary school children in Carshalton and Wallington.

Tom Brake MP commented, 'Last year's competition was such as success I couldn't wait to hold one again this year. It is great fun and I know the children enjoy it.'

This year, the competition will again involve two groups of entry, one for Reception, Years 1 and 2, and one for Years 3 to 6. The competition is for a design on the subject of 'Animals at Christmas' and the judges will be looking for a design that can be reprinted as an A5 Christmas card.

A panel of three judges will award three prizes in each category. An overall winner will be selected and their design printed and produced as Tom's official Christmas card, which, last year, was sent to around 1,300 people and organisations locally. The overall winner of all categories will also be invited to 'tea for two' at the House of Commons.
