Burstow - TfL have seen the light

12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Tue 21st Oct 2008

Paul Burstow, MP for Sutton and Cheam, has welcomed news that TfL have abandoned their plan to remove Cheam's heritage lampposts.

Commenting on the news Paul said:

'I'm glad that TfL have abandoned their plan and are now going to work with Sutton Council to upgrade the existing lampposts.

'Local pressure has helped them see sense and now we can look forward to better lighting for Cheam without any damage being done to the unique character of the village.

'I will, of course, be keeping up the pressure on TfL to ensure that that they respect the conservation status of the village.'

Notes to Editors:
