Brake Put in Hot Seat by Collingwood School Pupils

6.47.26pm GMT Tue 2nd Dec 2008

Tom Brake, MP for Carshalton and Wallington, was the guest of Collingwood School Year 6 pupils last Friday morning.

In a lively Question and Answer session, Tom was questioned about why he chose to became an MP (because he was wanted to do something about the environment), what he didn't like about the job (the number of emails!) and whether he had met the Queen (twice very briefly).

Tom said after the event, "I always find Q+As with school pupils very refreshing. They always want to talk about real things, not the political scandal of the day! Collingwood pupils were no exception, their questions were pertinent and pointed."

Year 6 pupils are likely to have a further opportunity to put Mr Brake on the spot during a future visit to Parliament.

Collingwood School is an independent school in Springfield Road in Wallington.
