MP INTERVENTION PROMPTS ACTION ON POWER CUTS

12.03.00pm GMT Mon 15th Dec 2008

Sutton and Cheam MP, Paul Burstow, has blasted electricity supplier EDF for leaving customers in the Stonecot Hill area in the dark.

A series of 15 power outages this autumn prompted local residents to ask Mr Burstow to intervene with the power company.

The MP took action and as a result the power company now has contractors in the area attempting to pin down the cause of the power cuts.

Commenting Paul Burstow MP said:

"EDF have been slow to act. They have left their customers in the dark. With the cold winter nights the company has to step up its efforts to determine the cause of the power outages. After so much disruption Stonecot Hill residents must be fully compensated for the inconvenience they have suffered."
