Burstow holds Q & A with nurses5.04.00pm GMT Tue 6th Jan 2009 Sutton and Cheam MP, Paul Burstow, today met nurses from Sutton's St Anthony's Hospital and the Royal Hospital for Neuro disabilities. The group of nine nurses are part of the Royal College of Nursing's Clinical Leadership Programme and after a tour of the House of Commons sat down with Mr Burstow for a detailed question and answer session. Beginning with a question about what sparked Mr Burstow's passion for healthcare issues the discussion ranged over local and national health matters. Mr Burstow's response, that this interest came through attending Sutton Seniors Forum and his passion for the rights and welfare of older people led to debate about how the services for older people throughout the health service could be improved. Commenting on the session Mr Burstow said: 'It was good to meet this group of dedicated and concerned health professionals. Listening to people who work on the healthcare front line is always encouraging, because of the excellent work they are doing, but also frustrating because of the problems they face. 'I never fail to come away from discussions like this without new avenues of investigation to pursue and a desire to do all I can for better healthcare service, both for patients and the staff as well.' If you would like to go on a tour of the House of Commons please do not hesitate to get in touch with Mr Burstow by sending a message to info@paulburstow.org.uk
