Local MP quizzed by school council

4.25.00pm GMT Thu 12th Feb 2009

Paul Burstow, MP for Sutton and Cheam, held a Q&A session last week with members of the School Council from Cheam Farm Park Junior School.

The question time was a part of the tour of the Houses of Parliament the School Council were on that day; which included seeing inside the historic Palace of Westminster and a workshop explaining how Parliament works.

They then had the chance to ask Mr Burstow, their local MP, anything they wanted to and questions ranged from 'why did you become an MP?', 'how do you get to work?' to 'have you met the Queen?'

After answering the questions they fired at him Paul Burstow MP said:

'I rarely get asked such candid questions as I do when I meet children and young people, who are unashamedly open and honest about what they want to know about you! It was a pleasure to meet such an enthusiastic group of young people and let's hope some of them go on to be our politicians of the future!'
