Sutton's Veterans Recognised by Mayor

7.38.54pm GMT Mon 15th Feb 2010

Local veterans were recognised today at a reception in the Mayor's Parlour organised by local MP, Paul Burstow.

Mr Burstow organised the event to mark the award of the Veteran's Badge to a number of the borough's residents.

Commenting, Paul Burstow MP, said, "We owe a huge debt to our veterans. Conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan remind us daily of the sacrifices service personnel make for their country.

"Having helped a number of local veterans obtain the Veteran's Badge I thought the award should be marked in someway. I was delighted that the Mayor, Cllr Margaret Court, agreed to host a reception and tea to say thank you."
