Tom Brake Lib Dem MP for Carshalton and Wallington is calling for greater screening for diabetes after worrying figures revealed that there has been a steady rise in the number of emergency admissions to local hospitals for a life-threatening condition which develops if diabetes remains undetected.

The Henderson Hospital campaign has cross party support as Liberal Democrat MPs Paul Burstow, Tom Brake and Norma Lamb met with Health Minster Ivan Lewis, Conservative Shadow for mental health Anne Milton and Labour MP Lynne Jones were unable to attend after the date of the meeting was re-arranged but both were eager to show their support for the pioneering mental health hospital which treats severe personality disorder. The meeting took place the same week as the National Commissioning Services Group are due to publish their report on the need of people with complex personality disorder.

Tom Brake commemorated National Childminding Week last week by meeting registered childminder Sarah Butler, and two of the children she looks after; Ryan and Josh in Carshalton.

Tom Brake was invited to join an exercise class on Friday at the Sutton College of Learning for Adults (Scola) in the old Town Hall in Wallington.
